FAQs

Here are some of the general questions we've been asked about the wedding & Denmark in general. If you have any additional questions, just let us know!
Question

Aren't you already married?

Answer

Yes! We got married in November of 2021, but we never got the chance to celebrate with all of our loved ones in one place - so this is our excuse to get you all together!

Question

How do I get to Denmark?

Answer

The closest, and only local airport is Copenhagen Kastrup (CPH). Americans do not need a visa, but remember to pack your passport!

Question

Where is Skælskør, and how do I get there from Copenhagen?

Answer

Anders' hometown is just under two hours southwest of Copenhagen. You can take a train to Slagelse & then a bus/taxi to your accommodation. Renting a car is also a good option! Once we have everyone's arrival times we will help coordinate rides as needed.

Question

Where should I stay for the wedding?

Answer

Skælskør is approximately 2 hours outside of Copenhagen, so you will want to stay locally for the wedding. Here are our suggested accommodations: - Kobæk Strand & Conference Center (Local hotel with single & double rooms) link & details on our travel page -Local Airbnbs (search "Skælskør") -Local Neighbors (check with us for more details!) We recommend arriving Friday evening, or early on Saturday, and departing on Sunday or Monday.

Question

What is the weather like in Denmark in September?

Answer

It's typically between 50°F to 63°F (10°/17°C) with temperatures dropping at night. Klintegaard is on the water, and windy, so we recommend wearing layers, or bringing a jacket for the evening. The wedding will be outdoors, so please keep this in mind.

Question

What is the dress code for the wedding?

Answer

As the wedding will be outdoors on a farm, we recommend cocktail attire, with practical shoes that will be comfortable for mixed terrain (grass, gravel, dirt). Boots, flats & dress sneakers are all encouraged. Risa will probably wear heels, but she is an idiot.

Question

How do I get from my accommodation to the wedding?

Answer

We will be arranging taxis/shuttles to and from local accommodations to the wedding venue.

Question

Should I rent a car?

Answer

Rentals are easy to reserve, you just need a valid drivers license from your home country. Driving to explore Copenhagen would be a terrible idea. Carpooling from Copenhagen to Skælskør however, would be a great way to see some of the smaller towns and sights in Denmark, and also the only efficient way to get around the town as it's a more rural area. We will also have shuttles to and from local accommodations to Klintegaard for the wedding so everyone can enjoy themselves!

Question

What time does the wedding finish?

Answer

Danish weddings are an all night celebration! We will run an early and a late shuttle back to local stays.

Question

Should I bring a gift?

Answer

Your presence is present enough! We're just excited to celebrate with everyone in one place!

Question

What language do they speak in Denmark?

Answer

Dutch & Swedish, though everyone in Copenhagen is fluent in Cantonese.

Question

What currency do they use in Denmark?

Answer

The local currency is kroner (DKK) but 99.999999% of places will accept credit cards.

Question

What is the tipping culture in Denmark?

Answer

Tipping culture is non-existent in Denmark, but we know Americans have a hard time with this concept. If you must, a 10% tip is considered very generous!

Question

Where should I stay in Copenhagen & how do I get around?

Answer

Our favorite neighborhoods are Nørrebro, Vesterbro, Østerbro & Christianshavn. These are all in, or around the city center. Copenhagen is easy to navigate, has 24 hour public transport, and is walkable within central areas. Denmark as a whole is incredibly safe, so no need to worry about anything other than normal safety precautions. Taxis can be found easily, but please note there is no Uber. If you want to embrace the local culture, you can also rent a bike at most cycle shops! The local travel card called a "Rejsekort" works for local trains and buses, as well as long distance travel throughout the country. (Info on the travel page)

Question

What should I do in Copenhagen?

Answer

We will be updating our site with recommended activities as we get closer to the date. Our friend Molly is also an amazing travel advisor & can help with planning flights, hotels, tours and other travel adventures before & after the wedding. (Info on the travel page)

Question

What should we do in Skælskør?

Answer

Skælskør is a very small, but picturesque town with limited activities. This is the kind of place where taking a drive through the countryside or along the water is a beautiful way to spend the day.
