Jonathan and I crossed paths at a high school hockey game back in September 2010. I went to watch our mutual friend play and Jonathan happened to be on his team. I was sitting in the bleachers when he somehow spotted me. Since he couldn’t communicate from the ice, he decided to reach out to me that night. I had returned home to a message from some random guy (AKA Jonathan) and me being a 15-year-old, I decided to blow him off (jokes on me right). Fast forward a couple of weeks later and Jon was at a friends house. He knew I lived close by and asked him if they could stop by my house. The next thing I know there is this new cute boy in my driveway. He was so full of life and joy that his energy was contagious. I knew then that he would be in my life for a really long time. Two weeks later, we were dating and haven't stopped.

Since Jon and I were together for around nine and a half years before we got engaged, I was definitely anxiously awaiting it to happen. I had always told Jon that I wanted it to happen in Traverse City at my favorite winery, Chateau Chantal. I had a nail appointment ready, a dress picked out and reservations at the winery for our annual trip. A week before that Jon and I were going to take a trip to his parents lake house. He told me to get ready and paint my nails (two of the things I begged him to make sure I had done when we got engaged). I thought he was just joking around like many of the times he had previously. However, I complied and got myself together before we left. We got there, ate dinner and took a boat ride and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. After dinner, we were sitting on the patio and I asked Jon if he wanted to go down to the dock to watch the sunset which he agreed. We walked down there and instantly I could feel his nerves. When we got down there, he grabbed my hands and asked me to marry him. It was the most special moment. It was even more magical because I never saw it coming. I couldn't have picked a better proposal or man to marry. We are so excited to starting this chapter in our lives and can't wait to celebrate with all of you.
