Stephanie and Peter met at the Massachusetts State House where they both worked. Although they had been working in the same building for years, their paths didn't meaningfully cross until they joined the State House Running Club - a group of staff that met every Tuesday to run around the Charles River and rehydrate at a local dive bar afterwards. It didn't take long for a friendship and then relationship to develop - as Peter says "I've been chasing after her ever since!". Ironically, Steph and Peter have since discovered "invisible string" moments prior to their meeting in 2017 that they've been in the same place at the same time (including being students in the same small class at UMass Amherst!) but fate waited until they were both ready to build a life together.

Every year, Stephanie and Peter go to Newport, RI to watch a polo match with friends. Before heading over to the game, Peter (and her friends Emma and John) tricked Steph into taking their dogs for a walk in a different part of the city to "burn some energy". Instead, Peter led Steph to the Cliff Walk and proposed in front of the Ochre Court building - a favorite spot of Steph's where she both went to college and used to visit with her mom and family. Our friends were very surprised when we came back with a ring and champagne in hand!
