On April 25th, 2020 we had planned a big wedding in Redlands but due to Covid-19 pandemic we postponed the event to July 18th. We thought the pandemic would be over by then but it continued. The everyday change in restrictions and major health concerns made us less confident in having our big event. We soon realized that we were not going to have the big wedding we were hoping for. So, on July 18, 2020 in a small house overlooking the ocean in San Clemente, CA we became husband and wife. We had a small ceremony in front of our immediate family, 14 people total. Now, a year later, we want to celebrate our marriage with everyone that could not be there.
Jamie had just started her first year of teaching and Mike was working as a coach/campus supervisor at Esperanza High School. Mike saw Jamie on campus but could not sum up the courage to ask her out. Little did Mike know that Jamie was also interested in him, but also felt too shy to talk to him. When Jamie saw that both of them were chaperoning the same dance she decided to ask one his former teachers about him. The first thing that teacher said was, "Oh, that's Mike, he's going to be the best husband someday." Intrigued and a little nervous, Jamie asked if she would put in a good word for her with Mike. When Mike heard about this he decided he would ask Jamie out later that week on his last day of work. He walked into Jamie's classroom after school and asked her out on a date and of course she said yes. The next night they met up at Yard House at Irvine Spectrum and the rest is history!
On April 20th, 2019, Mike's best man Josh and his wife Amanda set up double date for a day of wine tastings at their favorite wineries in Temecula. Jamie thought it was just another a double date, but in reality Mike had set up the whole day for the proposal. When they arrived at Fazeli's Winery (one of Mike and Jamie's favorite wineries), Mike said he wanted to give Josh and Amanda a "tour" of the winery. When they made it to the ceremony space, Mike grabbed Jamie's hand and walked down the aisle. When they made it to the first step of the alter, Mike stopped and told Jamie why they were really here. He then got down on a knee and popped the question.
