How We Met

February of 2017

We met at our church's student ministry while volunteering on Wednesday afternoon. We had several conversations, but we both can't remember a single one that didn't flow like we had been best friends our whole lives. After a couple weeks of volunteering, our student pastor asked for two of us to go upstairs and prepare some lemonade for the students to enjoy after service was over. Jaqueline and Jonah volunteered and went to the kitchen to make some lemonade. While we were upstairs we started talking about how we were both in school, what we were going to school for, and where we grew up. We instantly had a connection and that night, Jonah asked for Jaqueline's number. After several weeks of talking and texting, on March 3rd we went on our first date to Main Event. We had the best time and we both knew that this was something special. On April 8th, Jonah asked Jaqueline to be his girlfriend and the rest is history!

The Proposal

December 19th, 2020

After 3 and a half years of dating, we started talking about marriage and our future. We had both decided that we would wait until we graduated college in the fall of 2020 to get engaged. The week of December 19th, Jonah told Jaqueline that he wanted her to dress up to go to the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens and a nice dinner afterwards. Jonah told Jaqueline that his parents would be out of town, so Jaqueline had no suspicion that he would be proposing. We walked around the whole garden and he said he wanted to go to the Japanese Gardens last. We finally arrived at the Japanese Garden, and saw a walkway that went across the pond. Jaqueline told Jonah to go first because she was nervous she would fall in and wanted him to test it out first. We walked on the walkway and Jonah grabbed her hands and told Jaqueline how he felt about her. He then got on one knee and proposed. We then heard a loud cheer and saw both of our families come out after they had been hiding behind a hut watching the whole thing. It was the most amazing day that we will never forget! It was filled with love and the excitement that our forever future together was about to begin!
