I originally saw Jacob on the first day of a marriage series at True North Church. Just as I was about to tune out (Sorry Pastor Steve!) our pastor said, raise your hand if you are single. I noticed a cute guy in my periphery who raised his hand. I decided I needed to raise my hand, just in case he happened to see me too. Update, he didn't. We even parked next to each other so after the service I REALLY thought he would say something as we were walking the same direction to our cars. Update, he didn't. I got over it and went about my week. The next weekend, I had some girlfriends visiting from college. We decided to go out to dinner in downtown Augusta so I could show them what a Friday night on the town looked like. Jacob was there with a friend, Jason, who quickly approached us asking, "What is this, girl's night?!" We started talking, and I soon realized that Jacob was the same guy who sat next to me in church the week before. We had our first date the next week, preparing Operation Christmas Child boxes. After that, the rest is history!

My graduation from Occupational Therapy school was set for May of 2019. Leading up to the event, Jacob often initiated ideas or plans for what my family should do to celebrate my graduation. I felt like this was a little bit unlike him (he is usually just go with the flow when it comes to making plans) but did not think much of it. A lot of my close friends and family were in town for the graduation (and also proposal, come to find out!) so I did not suspect anything TOO out of the ordinary. After dinner, my roommate Jenna suggested we go to a new rooftop in North Augusta. All of our family and friends were there. Jacob pulled me aside overlooking the river, and got down on one knee! We were both so excited. I am forever grateful that he chose to include family and friends so that they could be there to celebrate with us. We can't wait to share our wedding day with y'all!
