Riley was in Oxford, Mississippi. I was in San Antonio, Texas. I went to visit some delightful friends in Waco (Lexi, Candice, and Lizzie) over the summer in 2018. Riley went to visit his sister and her family in Waco the same weekend. We met at a group game night, and I may have played Taboo a bit too competitively. And Riley may have been terrible at Taboo. Coincidentally, Riley's sister Laura is married to the brother of one of my best friends (Josie). In the summer of 2019, Josie and I took a trip to Savanna together. Laura and Josie conspired to reconnect Riley and me, and they asked if they could give my phone number to Riley. I said yes, and Riley texted me within 1 minute of having my phone number. We've talked everyday since then (except for 2 days I was camping with students and was out of cell service). Since I'm writing this, I can brag on Riley a bit. He is the most thoughtful, loving, and patient man. Riley never fails to truly see and hear me. He works to always put God and Christ first and to put me second. I can always count on him to support and take care of me. I can't believe I'm the woman who gets to be with him. We dated for a year flying back and forth between Oxford and San Antonio, and I moved to Oxford this past summer. On our second weekend together, Riley told me that if we were still dating after he finished his master's program, he would move to wherever I was. I was able to move to be with him earlier, so I did. In September, Riley and I flew back to Kansas City to spend a weekend with my family. Unbeknownst to me, Riley conspired with my sister Hannah and my brother Zach to plan the perfect proposal. Riley asked me to spend the rest of my life with him, and I cried uncontrollably. I'm so excited to marry my Riley Bear.
