How We Met

4/17/2013

Blake and Riley have gone to school together since Middle School, but they didn't officially meet until their Junior year of high school at Bethany High School. When Blake decided to reach out to message her on social media, they began to get to know each other, and became friends. Prom season came around and Blake decided he wanted to ask Riley to prom, when he informally asked she agreed, but ended up going to prom with one of her other guy friends. This put a hold on the friendship between the two. Until, a couple weeks later, Blake decided to confront Riley and apologize for the way that he reacted to her decision to go with someone else to Prom. After Blake apologized, Riley came to the conclusion; that any boy, who is able to find it in their heart to not only forgive her for what she had done, but apologize when they weren't the one in the wrong is a boy worth keeping around. "I never would have thought that the boy that I ditched for prom would be the man I get to marry! He always jokes with me about ditching him for Prom. Looking back, I wish I would have went to Prom with him, but I wouldn't trade any of the journey that we went through to get to where we are today. He's my forever Prom Date! Our Story isn't a perfect love story, but the highs and the lows of our relationship show how much we truly rely on God to get us to where we are today." - Riley

He Popped the Question

4/25/2017

-The Best Birthday Present Ever- It was Riley's twenty-first birthday. We had reservations for dinner at Red Rock Canyon on Lake Hefner with family. The whole party was there, but we were waiting around because "our table wasn't ready yet". We were waiting out by the lake when the couple decided to walk down the peninsula toward the lighthouse to take pictures. When we came toward the water, we took some pictures and stood there talking for a few minutes, when Blake finally asked me to turn towards him and asked if I was ready for the second part of my birthday present. Of course, I said, "Yes", and he proceeded to turn me back toward the restaurant. When I turned around I saw my family and friends standing on the shore-line holding balloons that spelled out, "Marry Me". I turned back to Blake on one knee, and immediately burst into joyful, loving, ugly crying tears. Struggling to get myself together I didn't answer the most important question He had asked me, until he asked again, "Is that a YES?"
