Sam and Riley met while working at Kohl's in Thousand Oaks, Ca. Riley had just moved to the area and was paired with Sam to train on how to fold rugs in their home department. If you ask Sam how their first conversation went, he will tell you that Riley was standoffish and gave him one word answers. If you know Riley, you know she was very polite and friendly when answering Sam's questions. They weren't fast friends, but ended up hanging out with the same people often. After trading snapchats, Riley posted a story about how she was bored and wanted to hang out with someone (Secretly hoping Sam would be the one to reply). And he did! They spent that night driving around Ventura County, eating fast food, and listening to 90's pop music. It was a great night, and Riley was smitten right away. After a few years of friendship and shameless flirting, Sam asked Riley to be his girlfriend, and the rest is history!
After packing all our things in a U-Haul to make the move from Thousand Oaks to Seattle, we finally made it to our new townhome 24 hours later! We unloaded the U-Haul, returned it, showered and decided to do one of our favorite things for dinner - A charcuterie date! We laid out a blanket and some pillows on the floor of our empty living room and prepared the food. While Sam was setting up the TV, he asked, "Hey Ri. Do you mind grabbing me a drink from the fridge?" Obviously I said said sure and made my way into the kitchen. I opened the door, and promptly slammed it shut after seeing an open ring box in the middle of beer bottles on the top shelf of the fridge. Sam came over and said, "Marry me, baby?" Then got down on one knee. (This goes without saying, but I said Yes!)
