Richie and Riley both attended CSB/SJU for college. Richie lived at the "golf house", while Riley was on the golf team. In 2015, the golfers hosted a Christmas sweater party. Who kissed who under the mistletoe is still under debate today, but we all know the rest is history!

On October 10th, 2020, Riley was right in the middle of her first medical school midterms (only slightly freaking out). Richie had a whole day planned at SJU, where they would take a run on the beloved chapel trail. However, the day before Riley freaked out and cancelled their plans. This sent Richie into a panic to figure out another way to propose. Instead, that morning he suggested they run and take a different route in Saint Paul. When they ran past Punch Pizza, he stopped to look at a sign on the door. While Riley was reading the sign, Richie got down on one knee!
