It all started at the 13th Annual Shell Shocked, with unlimited beers, unlimited oysters, and a commemorative pint glass. Sparks flew immediately -- not between Quinn and Riley, but rather between Mr. LaValle and Quinn's friend, Paul, as they discussed the possibility of becoming roommates in Alexandria. Eventually, the LaValles suggested that Quinn and Paul talk to people their own age, specifically their daughters. After a failed attempt to go to a Karaoke bar, Quinn gave Riley his contact information, and they went their separate ways. After months of not making a move and nearly fumbling it all, Quinn asked Riley out for a first date, which took place at a sports bar with fluorescent hospital lighting. From there, things moved quickly as they celebrated St. Patrick's Day in Richmond and Quinn's law school prom, culminating in them making it official and deciding to make long-distance work. With Riley teaching in Richmond and Quinn finishing up law school in Silver Spring, they made long-distance work through countless drives down I-95 and through the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. After Quinn got a job offer in Ocean City, they made the easy decision to move to Ocean City together, back where it all began. Riley found a position teaching eighth-grade science in Millsboro, Delaware, and after some house hunting, they found what would become their first home together. On August 23rd of this year, Riley went to what she believed was a photoshoot at the Coconut Club, where she tends bar. Little did she know, the photoshoot was a highly sophisticated ruse coordinated by Quinn and many of their friends and family to cover up the fact that he would be asking Riley to spend the rest of their lives together. We now ask that you raise a glass and join us in commemorating Quinn and Riley's marriage on October 10th, 2026, at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club.
