Our Story

#nomorewineing

Riley and Haley started dating on March 22, 2012 as sophomores in high school. They graduated South Doyle High School in 2014, and went on to ETSU together, where Riley graduated this past May with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication with a concentration in Public Relations/Advertising. He now works at an advertising agency in Johnson City called Creative Energy. Haley is still in school getting her Bachelor of Science in Interior Architecture. They plan to reside in Johnson City after getting married.

How We Met

#nomorewineing

In 2010, Haley and Riley met their freshman year of high school. Riley was the Powder Puff coach and Haley was a wide receiver on the team. Their sophomore year was full of bonfires, laughter, and craziness, which is only fitting for the type of people they are. In March of 2012, Riley asked Haley to be his girlfriend, and the rest is history... Both would agree that there is nothing like growing up with your significant other. Creating that special bond between two people takes time, effort, commitment, and a whole lot of love.

The Proposal

#nomorewining

Riley proposed to Haley on August 12, 2017. The day before, he had gone to Haley's parents house asking for their blessing. When they asked him when he was planning on proposing, he said, "I'm not sure, all I know is Haley is too smart, and will figure out the surprise if I do something over-the-top, so it will have to be spur of the moment, and unplanned." They gave him their blessing, and awaited the surprise. Haley came down to Knoxville on August 12, and was surprised to come home to a bunch of silence. (If you know her family at all, you would know this is a very rare occurrence.) Riley asked her if she wanted to go on a date, so she said yes, not thinking anything of it. They did their usual thing: eating, coffee, walk, and back to Riley's house to make a fire. He popped the question and Haley said yes!
