FAQs

Here you’ll find answers to some of the most common questions about our wedding. If there’s anything else you’d like to know, feel free to reach out!
Question

When should I arrive and depart?

Answer

We recommend arriving Tuesday, January 6th and departing Sunday, January 11th. We will be providing transportation to and from the airport on those days. If you plan to arrive/depart on a different day, you will be responsible for booking your own transportation. We suggest using Uber, as it is an easy and convenient way to navigate the city.

Question

Do I need a passport to travel to Guatemala?

Answer

Yes, a valid passport is required for travel to Guatemala. Please ensure that your passport is not expiring within six months of your arrival, as this is a requirement for entry. Be sure to check your passport’s expiration date well in advance of your trip to avoid any travel issues!

Question

How do I use my phone in Guatemala?

Answer

Prior to departing, we suggest activating a travel pass through your service provider. WiFi is commonly accessible, so we also highly recommend downloading WhatsApp.

Question

What do I do once I arrive to the airport?

Answer

Upon arrival, you will see signs posted around the airport with a QR code. Scan this code and complete the Regional Traveler Declaration Form (you can select English at the top of the screen).Once you exit the airport, there is a small cafe immediately to the right where you can grab a snack or a coffee while you wait for the bus. We do not recommend waiting outside of the airport/cafe.

Question

How long is the drive from the airport in Guatemala City to Antigua?

Answer

The drive from La Aurora Airport to Antigua typically takes about two to four hours, but traffic can be very unpredictable. To make things easier, we will be providing transportation to and from the airport on Tuesday, January 6th and Sunday, January 11th.

Question

What time will the buses arrive and depart?

Answer

On Tuesday, January 6th, the bus will arrive to the airport at 1:30pm CST. On Sunday, January 11th, the bus will be departing for the airport at 9:00am CST.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

January in Antigua, Guatemala is part of the dry season and one of the best times to visit! Expect warm, sunny days with temperatures in the mid-70s to low 80s°F and cooler evenings that can dip into the 50s°F. Layers are your friend—bring a light jacket or sweater for the mornings and nights.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

While we love little ones, this week of celebrations will be an adults-only event. We appreciate your understanding and hope you’ll be able to join us for a relaxing, kid-free experience!

Question

Do I need to bring cash?

Answer

Yes, cash is always handy in Antigua, especially since there are many fun stalls and local shops to explore! To get the best conversion rate, we recommend withdrawing quetzals from your bank while still in the States. This way, you’ll have local currency on hand for shopping, tips, and small purchases. ATMs are also available in Antigua, but having cash upon arrival can be helpful.

Question

What if I don't speak any Spanish?

Answer

Don’t worry! While Spanish is the official language in Guatemala, many locals in Antigua speak some English, especially in tourist areas. That said, learning a few basic phrases like “hola” (hello), “gracias” (thank you), and “por favor” (please) can go a long way. Plus, we’ll all be here to help you navigate any language barriers and ensure you have a great time!
