Our Story

from Riley's perspective

After embarking on a flight to a country neither of us had every been to, we explored the streets of Paris individually. Seperate from eachother for the first three nights of our study aborad in collage, we were accepting the vulnerability of our individual lives at the moment. We were allowed to truly be free and live for ourselves. That is when we found eachother. In the second city of our trip, our paths finally crossed. Beyond a few blushing glances we had yet to speak. Alone in a tiny hotel room off the main street in Aix en Provance with two other students we were able to finally see each other. All it took was one sentence and we were hooked on each other, wanting to learn as much as possible about the amazing human sitting across from us. We were enamored with each other. Ironically but predictably neither one of us wanted to admit it to ourselves. Both of us embracing independence and getting our footing on our own. While walking around Aix the next day after staying up until 5:00 am talking and watching French children's TV shows, Allison wouldn't even let me tie her shoe. We were playing cat and mouse the whole time spent exploring France and playing it well. Being lucky enough, we had a boat day where the class took a catamaran out off the coast of France. We RAN that boat day. Not only were we the most entertaining, (because we most definitely were), but we genuinely were the most happy. It was because we had found each other an what we had been searching for our whole lives, a sense of true love, being known and loved with all flaws and meaning it. We both loved everything that others may think was "wrong" with us, and most importantly we had the most fun we had ever had just by loving each other together. After a week or so of cat and mouse it was made very, clearly undeniable to us that what we had stumbled upon was special. Our first date was on the coast of Malaga, Spain where we ate the most amazing food we had yet to experience. After dinner we walked through the city streets to a rooftop bar to look over the entire city skyline out onto the water. It was truly beautiful. After some time there we continued to explore the night life. While we were clearly loving on each other as we walked we had a group of nice French (even though we were in Spain) strangers shout to us "Vive L'amore". It felt just like a movie. We reached the beach around midnight. City life had slowed down and it was just us, the waves & the stars looking back down at us. I had always wanted someone to look at the stars with. No one had ever filled those shoes to my dreams until Allison that night. It began to pour down rain but but that didn't matter much to us. We laughed and danced and kissed in the rain that night for what seemed like when time stood still. We had thought that kind of joy was something for the romantics and the movies only, but were gladly proven wrong that night. After our "first date" we were official. Exploring the rest of Spain together was a dream. Not only were we good at vacationing together, but also the travel aspect was amazingly symbiotic. We made quite a fun team. Being in such a foreign land and learning about each other in such a pure and strange context sped up our knowledge and love for each other exponentially. We were so lucky to start our lives together off in such a way. In Morocco, I told allison I loved her. After befriending a local, who was both intensely interesting and deeply generous, we danced out on the rooftop, I couldn't help it. The sun was setting behind Allison as I watched and knew this was where I wanted to be... next to her.
