Adri and I flew to New York City to celebrate her cousin Dahra’s marriage! I realized that we walked more than we slept as we stumbled across the mile long Brooklyn bridge built in 1883. Our whole group knew I was going to surprise Adri and they helped make the next day special. In the Morning Adri and I went to Astoria park with her family then we spilt up and I surprised Adri with a ride to the NYC botanical garden, a 250-acre living museum located in the Bronx, founded in 1891. We felt a deep reverence as we learned about the diversity of life in the park and its significance to the community. Suddenly my phone rang. The caller told me their kitchen had flooded. Our dinner reservation in 1 hour would be canceled and then I got a text explaining the helicopter ride in 3hours could be canceled due to the rain coming. Adri knew nothing about either plan but she knew something impactful had just happened to me as I looked at my phone. I sent off a text to the pilot and asked if there was a chance we could still go. I thought, maybe I should she just ask the big question right here in the garden. I distracted Adri by asking to guess her what the upcoming surprise could be. She said “hmm.. an aquarium or a sunset spot? some food?” Great guesses, I found an old Italian restaurant where we had dinner. The pilot texted back, we were a go to fly! We pulled up to the small airport. Adri, completely unaware of my intentions told me she did not want to go skydiving and it would messed up to surprise someone with that. As soon as we got over the river I explained how Adri was like water to me and asked her to marry me. I think she is still in shock
