It all started at Trader Joe’s in San Francisco.

It was 2016 and Leah was managing a game store. On her break, she went next door to Trader Joe’s to pick up some groceries.

When she got to the register, she encountered a handsome checkout guy with a kind smile. His name was Riley.

As he rang her up and bagged her groceries, they started chatting and immediately connected.

Leah mentioned that she worked at a fun store nearby, and she suggested that Riley come check it out sometime.

After Leah left, the person in line behind her remarked on their connection and told Riley that he should have asked her for her number.

The very next day, Riley went to Leah’s store. They ended up chatting in the store for hours; neither wanted the visit to end.

When Riley left, he asked Leah for her number. She pulled a card out of her back pocket and handed it to him - she had already written down her number and was waiting for him to ask.

From the start, their connection was undeniable. On their first date, they discovered their shared love for macro photography (close-up photography of small subjects).

It was clear that they both appreciated the little details in life.

After eating dinner they went to a bar and danced together to live music - the first of countless hours spent dancing together.

That first date lasted into the wee hours of the morning. The two reveled in each other’s company as Riley walked Leah two miles back to her home.

On their way through Golden Gate Park, Riley gave Leah a piggyback ride. She rated it 5 stars.

This is our first photo together -- taken while climbing a tree in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.

In the 8 years that have passed between then and now, Riley and Leah have built a life full of love, adventure, and giggles.

They’ve gone on dozens of camping trips, boogied at concerts and festivals, and spent long nights making art with friends.

They also adopted a sweet little queen named Mika!

In 2020 they moved to Austin, TX. They love paddleboarding on the river, hiking the greenbelt (so many cool bugs!), and dance parties with their friends.

If you walk by their little house on Cinnamon Path, you’re likely to hear a good record playing and smell delicious food (cooked by Riley).

In 2021, Riley and Leah went on a walk in the Massachusetts forest she grew up in. Riley proposed, and Leah said YES!
