Our Story

Both Rikki and Josh made their way to Utah from Florida and New York with a passion for the outdoors in 2017 after college not knowing that these mountains would hold such a future for them and soon become their forever home. Josh and Rikki met through mutual friends back in 2018, although they both recall their first encounters a bit differently. For Josh, it all started at a Nicky Romero concert at Park City Live (may it rest in peace). He vividly remembers spotting a lively, fist-pumping blonde bursting from the bathroom and hitting the dance floor. Little did he know that this energetic woman was none other than his future fiancée. Rikki’s take on their initial encounter is a bit different. Amidst the concert's excitement, she had her hands full, and remembers Josh as a quiet, shy, but undeniably charming guy she met a few days later at a Cinco de Mayo party. From there, the couple’s paths often as they were on the same beer league volleyball team and could never turn down a group hang with the gang, each hesitant to push their budding friendship into something more, worrying about disrupting their friend group. However, the universe had different plans. In the winter of 2019, Rikki, who was demoing new skis, took a nasty fall and ended up tearing her ACL, PCL and MCL – the trifecta of knee injuries. Three days later, Josh had his own misadventure, tearing his MCL while snowboarding. Both Rikki and Josh were sidelined and found themselves with plenty of time on the couch, figuring, “Why not be cripples together?” Josh and Rikki’s connection grew stronger, but Josh still hadn’t asked Rikki to be his girlfriend. In true Rikki fashion, she made the first move and the two became an official couple on Cinco de Mayo 2019. Of course, not wanting to share tacos every anniversary, they decided to call their official date May 3rd, 2019. Their relationship flourished, with Josh becoming a devoted dog (and cat) dad seemingly overnight. Fast forward a few years – filled with a new puppy, becoming homeowners and moving to Midway, and a couple of career changes – and Josh finally proposed to Rikki in Guardsman Pass in Park City on October 14, 2023. Surrounded by their closest friends, who were eager to celebrate this long-awaited moment, their engagement marked the beginning of a new chapter in their journey together.
