Dear family and friends, After thoughtful consideration, we have decided to cancel our big wedding planned for this summer in Salem, Oregon. Andrew and I will still be getting officially married this summer in a small family-only wedding. However, we have decided to cancel the big gathering as there are still many unknowns with the current pandemic. The biggest concern is not being able to have my (Rika's) parents be with me on my big day as Japan currently has strict travel restrictions. Although we were excited to celebrate our wedding with our dear family and friends, we hope to be able to re-invite everyone again when we renew our vows or something! Rika was having her 28th birthday party at a Brazilian Steakhouse restaurant in Seattle, when Andrew showed up with their mutual friend, River, unannounced. Little did they both know, they were interested in each other from first sight. Rika being Rika, could not go another day without reaching out to Andrew. She found Andrew on Facebook and sent him a message. "Hey Andrew :) if you're interested I'd like to hang out with ya sometime. Let me know" A week later, they went to the driving range for their first date and shared a bucket of balls and a pitcher of beer. Andrew didn't want it to end, but had promised his mom that he would water her plants while she was out of town. He decided to invite Rika to water his mom's plants. To both their surprise, his mom came home from her trip and they ended up having dinner with Andrew's mom on their first. From then on, they were inseparable.

Rika bought tickets to "The Head and The Heart" concert at the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. Rika coaxed Andrew into going by planning a 10 day road trip from Seattle to Colorado, which included several stops at breweries, Yellowstone National Park, and Grand Teton National Park. Andrew was in! While Rika was busy making a Visio flow chart for their road trip, Andrew was secretly getting ready to make this an extra special trip.
