Although they graduated from the same high school, in the same year, Matthew and Elizabeth's paths really didn't cross until the Summer of 2017. Over a seemingly fated game of cornhole (at a tailgate with mutual friends), Matt and Liz realized that they made a pretty good team! It wasn't long after that Matt asked Liz on a date and the rest is history!
Liz and Matt love to travel. Before COVID-19 changed everyone's lives, Liz and Matt had a few trips planned. Unbeknownst to Liz, Matt was planning to propose while abroad! Plan A- They were going to go to Ireland and Scotland over Spring Break. They had the flights and hotels booked and an expertly crafted itinerary in hand... unfortunately, COVID cancelled those plans. Not to fear... Matt had another option! For Liz and Sara's 30th birthday, the girls and their gentlemen were going to go for a long weekend in Denver, Colorado. They were ready to go... but a week before their scheduled flight, things got worse pandemic wise and they all decided it would be safer to postpone the trip. And finally, we arrive at Plan C. Realizing that proposing while on a trip was pretty much out of the question, Matt decided to pop the question at home. After taking Liz out for a nice dinner in the borough (in which he ate nothing but a salad because he was so nervous), Matt and Liz walked back to their house. While they were eating, both moms and Sara had snuck into their house to set up candles, rose petals and a bunch of framed photos of the two. They also put Porter in a little tux. Needless to say, Liz was very surprised and it was a wonderful proposal. :)
