Once upon a time in the land of Cincinnati, a girl and a boy matched on a dating app. After messaging for a bit, they decided to meet up at a local watering hole in February. Meghan & Derek spent a few months hanging out before work separated them, sending Meghan away to summer in Colorado. Upon being reunited, a month passed before Derek plucked up the courage to ask her to be his girlfriend.

Our fairytale continues in the Land of Enchantment: Santa Fe, New Mexico. Girl and boy are vacationing with the girl's family. The family finds themselves visiting the Cross of the Martyrs, known for its view of the sunsets. Meghan and Derek pose for a photograph. A perfect moment for Derek to get down on one knee if not for Meghan’s mom doing what she does best: taking a photo of a plant, none the wiser to the fact that a proposal is about to take place. Plant photography cannot stop what is meant to be. In a rapid turn of events, Meghan’s mom is capturing proposal photos, and Derek is popping the question. After an enthusiastic “yes!”, the happy couple receives a smattering of applause from the other sunset onlookers while Derek slips a beautiful ring on Meghan’s finger.
