It all started back in August of 2020 with Bumble. I never had the best of luck with dating apps, but thought I would give it another shot. I stumbled upon this handsome fella whose profile picture was of him wearing a Jurassic Park t-shirt (classic), along with a photo of him from Halloween in a Captain America costume. The first thing I mentioned to him was that I liked that outfit. We hit it off and started getting to know each other, and when we planned to get together for the first time, I ended up getting COVID. Ope. So that pushed it back two more weeks. But as soon as I was back on my feet, we ended up meeting and then going on our first official date at Cozy’s Cafe, which is now one of our favorite spots we enjoy going back to🤍
Picture it. You’re closing in on half a year into a pandemic, which has made the prospect of dating all but impossible. But if you know me… you know I like an impossible mission. And when you get a message on a dating app from a bombshell that’s all about Captain America… Well. You answer the call as if your nation is depending on you.🫡🫡🫡 But then she gets Covid! And a fortnight in real life is like thirty years in Bumble time. Would there be enough there with just written conversation? Could I really keep this gal’s attention with just gifs and sarcasm? Well, when it’s meant to be, life just… finds a way. Everything just immediately clicked into place. We talked movies, shared a GINORMOUS piece of carrot cake, and left the restaurant secretly hoping we’d both be bringing the night up to family and friends for many more years to come. And how about that? Steve finally gets to have that dance with his Peggy.😘🥰💃🕺
This particular evening, which on the outset seemed to be rather ordinary, became a very special day. We were on my (Jess) family vacation and headed to Audubon Park in New Orleans for some pictures together before dinner. The trees were absolutely beautiful and the scenery was one to remember. As Chase and I stood under the trees about to take some photos, he began to talk about our grandmothers, of whom we wished were both still here. I felt that they were there with us when we saw multiple butterflies around us the day before, as well as a cardinal sitting outside a local coffee shop. He mentioned that they would always be with us, as he got down on one knee and presented a ring box that had both my grandma’s engagement ring and his grandma’s wedding band displayed inside. He proposed with their collective “blessing” .🥹 And now, here we are on our way to our wedding day!
