It was a Friday night- I got a text from my friend Katelyn asking me to go to a PSL (Philly Sports League) post-summer league kickball party. She mentioned it was a Halloween party.... It was almost 10pm , I had not showered that day, and was still in my work clothes.....despite this, I went to the party as-is. We arrived, grabbed some beers, and met some people. As I was chatting with Katelyn, the front door opened and in walked this tall and handsome man-also not in a Halloween costume. I kept my eye on him as he walked in, went straight for the fridge, had a jello shot syringe, and began pounding beers (swoon). As the night went on, Derek and I ended up both being out back and formally met. After talking outside, then moving inside, it turns out that we had some parallel paths in our lives. Our worlds were so small, yet our paths never crossed showing us that timing is everything. During some games of flip-cup, we would catch each other's eye and I felt my heart skip a beat- what was happening??!! After my winning streak, Derek asked if we could go to the bar for some beers. Even though it was almost 1am- we walked with our friends to The Industry. It was here that Derek talked about " The 4 pillars of music" and I thought he was hilarious when that was not his intention at all- it was just Derek being Derek. The night came to an end too quickly and Derek suggested we watch the Eagles game together that Sunday- as my Uber arrived, and we hugged goodbye, he got my number. My phone had died but when I got home and plugged it in- I was surprised to see a text from Derek as my phone turned back on. It said something along the lines that we should get drinks together in the near future...how about tomorrow? Saturday we met for drinks, Sunday we watched the Eagles together, and from there our story began....

First of all, I didn't even realize it was Halloween. Second, I was making plans with Stan, so it was about a 50/50 that we'd even do anything that night, but thank god we did because my life really did change. Lauren thinks I didn't 'notice' her which is silly, I knew what I was doing. She is beautiful. What I didn't realize until we started talking was how beautiful she really was. For once someone just got me, and I could be myself - which as most of the people know who are reading this - is, well... it takes a special kind of person to get me. On that Friday in October, we instantly clicked. It was all meant to be because neither of us knew anyone at this party, neither of us were in costume, it was perfect. One thing she forgot to mention is that at the end of the night at Industry I said we should make plans and as I was leaving she's like, 'hey, well, you didn't get my number', at least one of us was paying attention that night. From then on, we've been attached at the hip, we make each other smile everyday, and we make each other better. I can't wait to see all the adventures we go on, and all of the little things that happen in between.
