Our Story Caitlin and Ricky first met 11 years ago during their junior year of college. As fate would have it, they both signed up for the same Spanish class during the spring term. On the very first day of class, Ricky showed up 10 minutes late. As he walked into the room, the first thing he noticed was a beautiful blonde girl sitting across the classroom. In that moment, he knew he had to find a way to get closer to her and, hopefully, ask her out someday. Of course, things didn't happen quite that quickly. Days turned into weeks, and there was very little conversation between them. Then one day, Caitlin approached Ricky and asked if he wanted to meet after class to study for their first exam. Ricky eagerly agreed, thinking it would be the perfect opportunity to spend some time with her. When he arrived, however, he discovered that Caitlin had also invited four or five other classmates. While it wasn't exactly the one-on-one study session he had imagined, it was the beginning of something special. After seven long weeks, Ricky finally worked up the courage to ask Caitlin out. Their first date was a classic college date—a 2-for-$20 dinner at Applebee's. Not long after, Ricky asked Caitlin to be his date for the annual Shasta trip. Unfortunately, on the morning of the trip, Caitlin's best friend and ride got sick, forcing her to cancel her plans. Then came May 17, 2015. Caitlin asked Ricky to meet her at the café in the University of Oregon library. What started as a study session turned into hours of effortless conversation. They studied, talked, laughed, and eventually closed down the café together. For Ricky, that was the night he truly realized he had found someone special. The conversation flowed so naturally that neither of them wanted the evening to end. Looking back, it was the moment their love story truly began. To this day, Caitlin claims she felt bad about canceling on the Shasta trip, so she decided to return the favor by asking Ricky to be her date to Barn Dance the following month. Whether it was a pity invite or not, Ricky didn't hesitate to say yes—and from that moment on, he never looked back. Not long after, Ricky planned an elaborate scavenger hunt to ask Caitlin to be his girlfriend. The adventure included riddles, clues, and several meaningful locations before ending at his fraternity house. While Caitlin wasn't ready to put a label on their relationship just yet, her feelings for Ricky continued to grow. Fortunately, Ricky didn't have to wait long. At Barn Dance, they spent the night together, laughing, dancing, and making memories. By June, they were officially exclusive. From that point forward, they became each other's date for every fraternity party, sorority event, football game, and college adventure. What began with a chance encounter in a Spanish classroom grew into a friendship, then a romance, and ultimately a partnership built on love, laughter, and unwavering support. Who would have thought that one Spanish class would be the reason their paths crossed and their love story began? More than a decade later, they are still each other's favorite person, best friend, and greatest adventure—and they can't wait to begin the next chapter together as husband and wife.
