Ricky had only been in San Diego for a couple of days when we met online (have you heard of Bumble?). They decided that they would try to go out to an Irish pub downtown to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. The atmosphere was fun and the food was delicious, but it was crowded and they couldn't hear each other! Not to mention, a big balloon kept hitting Amanda in the head. They decided to go bowling and play pool shortly after, both of which Amanda is not very good at. Despite being a crazy first date, Ricky asked Amanda if she would want to go walk on the beach the next day so that they could actually try to to get to know each other. They talked for hours and hours. Ricky was super sweet and charming, but also playful and silly like Amanda. To this day, one of their favorite games is to try to guess which airline that the plane flying overhead is... and they both are so competitive to beat the other one first!
Ricky and Amanda went on a fun hike one Saturday morning to Rancho Penasquitos Falls. The views were gorgeous through the valley and the falls were fun to skip across. There was a beautiful clearing by Carson's Crossing that you could see the stream and bridge. Great lighting as well. Amanda asked Ricky to take a photo. Conveniently, there was a pole in the middle of the clearing that is used to tie up horses, so Ricky could balance his phone on it. Amanda believed that Ricky was setting up the shot to take a timed photo. Ricky ran over to Amanda and posed. Then.... he got on one knee. It was a video instead! Of course Amanda said yes!
