During the wedding ceremony guests will respectfully take off their shoes before entering the holy darbar (site of ceremony) and keep their heads covered throughout the ceremony. There will be a specified area to leave your shoes during the service and traditional ramalas (bandana) will be provided. Women typically use the Indian dress scarf to cover their heads, while men use the bandana. Guests can pay their respects to the Guru Granth Sahib (holy book) by bowing in front. Traditionally, women take a seat to the left and men on the right. Everyone will be sitting on the ground during the ceremony (pillow seats provided) so please avoid short dresses/skirts or tight hindering pants. The ceremony usually takes 30-45 mins and lunch will follow.
For the Jaggo night and reception there will be a mix of Indian, Mexican and American, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Following the Sikh wedding ceremony, a traditional vegetarian Punjabi lunch will be served.
You are traveling all the way to Mexico to celebrate our big day with us, that is the best gift we could ask for! If you do wish to give us a gift, a card box will be set up at the reception. We respectfully request no boxed gifts at the wedding.
The Hard Rock hotel is taking extra measures to keep the resort clean and sanitized. Upon arrival guests will have their temperatures checked, hands sanitized and luggage disinfected. At checkin, the resort will require guests to fill out a Health Declaration and Release form, which can be found on their website: https://www.hardrockhotels.com/riviera-maya/files/6135/Hard-Rock-Hotel-Riviera-Maya-health-statement.pdf They also require a online Health statement be submitted: https://www.hardrockhotels.com/riviera-maya/health-statement.aspx The resort requires face coverings/masks for hotel guests in all public indoor areas, like the lobby, elevators, retail stores. You do not need a mask while outdoors or in the pool area.
Currently Mexico does not require a negative COVID test to enter the country, but you must complete a health declaration form and scan the QR code it generates on arrival at the airport. That can be found at: https://www.vuelaseguro.com/login To return back to the US, Canada or the UK you will need to show a negative COVID test. New CDC guidelines now require a test 1 day before your return flight to the US. Canada requires a test within 72 hours of your return flight. Canada also requires you download the ArriveCAN app, where you upload your proof of vaccination and complete a declaration before arrival back. The Hard Rock resort will provide 2 complimentary rapid antigen tests per room. Additional tests can be purchased for $50. Unfortunately this test is currently not accepted by Canada, but guests can purchase a PCR test for $50 per person for up to 2 guests per room; additional tests can be purchased for $90. Please make your test appointment directly with the resort.
