Anna and Nick first met at the Reidsville Middle School dance, two awkward middle schoolers without dance partners, paired together by chance. One slow dance later, and the rest was history. From that night on, they always seemed to find their way back to each other. They “dated” the way you do in middle school: texting, avoiding eye contact, and going to the Rockingham Movie Theater. Their early romance fizzled out, but that wasn’t the end of their story. Fast forward to the end of Anna’s sophomore year of high school and Nick’s junior year. They started dating again, and soon after, long distance became the theme of their relationship and would be for many years. Nick left for Pfeiffer University to play baseball, and a year later Anna headed to UNC Chapel Hill. For the next four years, Anna spent countless weekends driving to Misenheimer to watch Nick play baseball, and Nick drove to Chapel Hill for football games and sorority events. No matter the miles, they always showed up for each other. In 2019, Nick signed with the Detroit Tigers and packed his bags for Lakeland, Florida. Anna wasn’t far behind him. A few years later, Nick signed with the Baltimore Orioles, and around the same time Anna was trying to figure out life after graduation. When she got a job offer in Boston, Nick encouraged her to take the leap. He was chasing his dream, and she deserved to chase hers too. Over the five years Nick spent with the Orioles, Anna and Nick became honorary residents of Maryland and Virginia. If there was a home series, you could bet Anna was in the stands cheering him on six nights a week. She is, without question, his biggest fan. Baseball life isn’t an easy one, but somewhere along the way, they fell in love with it. Spring Training in Sarasota became their favorite tradition, three weeks of sunshine, baseball, and time together. It’s only fitting that Nick proposed in Sarasota in March. After more than eleven years, they’ve learned that life is crazy, unpredictable, and incredibly fun, especially when you’re doing it with your best friend. And if you had told 7th-grade Anna that she’d be marrying the boy she danced with at that middle school dance? Honestly, she probably would have believed you. They cannot wait to celebrate with all of you and look forward to getting married this November!
