Most people remember the spring of 2020 – the onset of COVID-19 – as a time they’d rather forget. But for us, it was the beginning of something unforgettable! When the pandemic cut both of our school years short, we found ourselves back in our hometown of Eau Claire. Little did we know, that twist of fate would lead to this very moment. After being held up inside for what seemed like an eternity, a mutual friend invited us to a socially distanced hangout at the iconic Wisconsin beach of Big Falls. Soon enough, that socially distanced hangout turned into numerous running and ice cream dates – the rest is history! (Thanks, Zach!) When the new school year came around, we both moved to Madison. Claire, to finish her senior year of college, and Jack, to live with his best friend and work remotely (definitely not to follow Claire). Once the pandemic began to settle down, Jack was called back into the office and 3 long years of long-distance began. This meant weekly trips from Minneapolis to La Crosse, where Claire was studying Physical Therapy, so Claire could see our dog, Woody (and Jack of course!). After Claire wrapped up Physical Therapy school, we decided Woody shouldn’t have to travel by car to see her favorite person and we moved into our house in Minneapolis! Fast forward to Claire’s birthday, what she thought was going to be her favorite date (morning coffee and a walk around the lake) turned into a surprise! Jack proposed at the Lake Harriet Rose Garden followed up with a surprise birthday/engagement party with all of our family and friends! We are so excited for the next chapter and what’s to come. We are incredibly grateful and can’t wait to spend our special day with all of our favorite people!
