God is faithful!!! Shawn and I's meeting was orchestrated by our Heavenly Father. As Isaiah 40:31 states, "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint." This verse reminds us that if we wait for the Lord, we will be strengthened and able to endure any challenges that come our way." On August 2nd, 2012, I went on a blind date with Shawn, who was introduced to me by my cousin and her boyfriend. We met at the movies, and Shawn immediately started a conversation with me, asking me many questions throughout the film. Although initially nervous, Shawn's friendly and outgoing nature quickly put me at ease, and we had a great time together. After the movie, we decided to grab some takeout food from a nearby restaurant and continue our conversation. We talked about everything from our hobbies and interests to our goals and dreams for the future. Our conversation was so interesting. Over the next few weeks, Shawn and I regularly saw each other. We went on more dates, shared more conversations, and gradually grew closer as we got to know each other better. Shawn asked me to be his girlfriend two months later, and I happily accepted. He introduced me to his parents, who were both warm and welcoming, and we continued to build our relationship together over time. In 2014, our relationship went long distance when I went off to college. Despite the distance, we talked every night and worked hard to maintain our relationship. "In 2017, we both agreed to take a break from our relationship, with the aim of focusing on our individual growth and improvement. Despite the difficult decision, we both respected each other and made a conscious decision not to date anyone during our separation. In 2019, the Bahamas was hit by a devastating hurricane, and during that time I reached out to Shawn to check how he and his family were doing. The call meant a lot to him, and that marked the start of our reconnection after the separation. In 2021, I visited Shawn and we had an honest and heartfelt conversation about our past, present, and future. We prayed together and decided to rekindle our relationship. In 2022, Shawn asked me to be his wife, and I was overjoyed to say yes with the biggest smile on my face. Our journey together has been filled with ups and downs, but we have both learned valuable lessons in self-improvement and the importance of unconditional love and support. During our time together, Shawn and I made a conscious decision to have a relationship that is built on a strong foundation of faith and respect. We both believe in waiting until marriage to honor our commitment to each other, and to honor God. Our love for each other is rooted in our shared values, and we are excited to continue building a strong and meaningful relationship that reflects our faith.
