After Richelle's best friend Dia moved to South Korea 2018 summer, she decided to step out of her social circle and started to know new friends. She met Linjie at a friend's house party and found out that they had common interest in skiing. The next day, Linjie invited Richelle to rock climbing, which was one of the regular routine he's doing weekly but was very new to Richelle. She thought it was a date and got nervous. So Richelle asked a group of her girlfriends to go with her. Normally it would overwhelm the guy in this situation, but Linjie was very nice talking to all of her girlfriends, explaining the moves on the wall. Richelle was quickly attracted to this cool and outdoorsy guy.

After three years together, Linjie gave Richelle a world map so she could pin all the places they've visited, also she can visualize the places she dreamed to go, The Wave, Arizona is one of them. It all happened when Richelle started the lottery for the permit. After three-time of loss with Richelle, instead, Linjie was the lucky guy (as he always is) and got it. Then the proposal idea hit him, "There could never be a better place to propose at her dream place!" After a three-hour hike to The Wave, Richelle found a scenic place to practice her yoga poses. It was then that he found the perfect timing to take out the ring and get down on one knee.
