Well, the short answer is, yes we would advise. The Todos santos area is spread out and it makes the experince much better to drive around and check stuff out. There are no ubers so keep that in mind. There are shuttles from the airport, but the costs we paid for a rental car for 8 days was $320....granted that was a VW jetta which did survive fine, the roads off the main roads are sand and very bumpy. I will bump mine up to an SUV, but up to you. You can also shuttle there, if you want to ride with other people that did rent cars. We can help coordinate of course! Your credit cards should have insurace covered, but double check. We used cactus car rental, and they were super great! But they do have all the main ones down there too, but i'd recommend Cactus..
SJD airport code, San Jose Del Cabo. All the major ones go there. If you want a cheaper option, and coming from California, try the bridge to Tijuana airport for domestic rates.
Well, the wedding is on Friday mid-day, so you will want to come in Thursday at a minimum, with the welcome hang starting at 4 pm Thursday. We will be there all week, and I have heard others doing extended trips too. We can coordinate lodging together somewhere, and activities, etc, or just do your thing and explore. You could always do a day in Cabo, then drive up too! We do STRONGLY advise that you get there a day early at least to settle in and get into the Baja mode.
We are blocking two condo complexes. There isn't one place we can accommodate everyone, but they will be walking distance from one another. They will be two bedroom with two bathrooms, so it will feel private with a living area/balcony/pool and vibezzz. We will be intouch to help facilitate rooming and stuff. And by all means we will recommend a hotel too if you want to do that, or air bnb.
The short answer is no. Well anywhere can be unsafe, even Chicago, DTLA, etc. Baja Mexico is known to be safe, and we communicated strongly with all the locals, expats etc and everyone of them said they only thing that happens in that area is petty theft. Its a very relaxed beach/surf town vibe with a lot of surfers, retired people and a small communitiy that looks out for their community. You'll love it. Here is the link to the US Embassy map, if you notice Baja is the same color as most of the world we have traveled too, Europe, Carribean, South America etc. https://travelmaps.state.gov/TSGMap/
It's Mexico, so whatever you feel most comfortable in drinking Mecalitas in the sun. Hats, Shades, maybe a collared shirt with minimal buttons. The Venue will be shaded mostly by palm trees and will cool down perfectly in the evening. We will be doing a FUN wardrobe theme, so stay tuned...
We will have a shuttle service for everyone, don't you worry, just come in your best fashion forward.
Not a question, just making sure you don't forget. Also, check to make sure your passport does not expire within 6 months of travel otherwise it is not considered valid.
