how we met

06/03/2015

"When the timing is truly perfect, He will fulfill the desires of your heart." Michael and I were introduced to each other through family and mutual friends. Michael had unfortunately just experienced a tragic loss near and dear to him and I was graduating high school and trying to piece together my future. A relationship between the two of us was not in the plan. I had purchased a teal guardian angel to gift to Michael. I had given it to my sister to give to him (since they were actually friends) and she insisted that I deliver the gift myself. In my head, I couldn't help but think how awkward this exchange was going to be, so of course I brought along my best friend Taylor to help ease the discomfort I expected to feel. But to my surprise, meeting this stranger was very pleasant. Months went by and through texting each other frequently, a friendship was built. I vividly remember telling Taylor "once he goes back to work, I will stop talking to him" but not a day has gone by over the last four and a half years where we haven't talked to each other. Since the first meeting, I knew that Michael was someone very special. Although, I never thought I would have a chance with him, I was thankful for our friendship. But again, to my surprise, his charming, witty, sarcastic personality captivated me. Initially, I didn't think of it as a relationship but that is how the best relationships begin. We have been loving each others company for the last four years and enjoy traveling together, playing games, spending time with family and friends, flying (Michael has an aviation degree but works as a Fort Wayne police officer), and most recently, planning our wedding and future together.

the proposal

12/30/2018

My family and I were traveling to Brown County State Park to celebrate Christmas in a cabin. We celebrated the holiday by exchanging gifts and playing games. We woke up Sunday morning and attended mass as a family, something we thoroughly enjoy doing. We returned back to the cabin and prepared for a walk through the park. It was beautiful, sunny, winter day and surrounded by my entire family, Michael asked me to marry him alongside the lake with the help of my oldest niece, Charlotte. Charlotte ran up to me and said that she found "something" on the ground. Michael followed close behind and just watched before taking the ring from Charlotte where he got down on one knee..knelt on a rock mind you, and asked for my hand in marriage.

the wedding

Over the last year, Michael and I have been planning the party of our dreams. From the wedding at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, to choosing the bridal party, to booking the entertainment, and to planning the reception at the Fort Wayne Coliseum, all of the steps along the way have been strategically planned to make our special day one to remember. We can not wait to say 'I Do' in front of all of our family and friends.
