Allie and Caleb first met in nursing school at Concordia University Wisconsin, but it wasn't until junior year that they actually got to know one another. In March of 2024, Allie and Caleb coincidentally both signed up for Concordia's HHP 166, a two-day hiking class to fulfill their credit requirements. The first day of class, Allie and Caleb visited Mequon Nature Preserve. Not knowing anyone else in the class, they kept each other company and had a surprisingly wonderful time walking and talking together. This was the first time the two had ever really exchanged more than a few words. Day two was much like the first. Allie and Caleb had the opportunity to discuss the current nursing school drama in addition to their family, friends, and a common faith. It was a fun time, but nothing came of it until later. Meanwhile, Allie and Caleb were randomly assigned to the same semester-long group project. The end of April rolled around, and the semester was coming to a close, so the group met more often to finish the final touches. In one of the meetings, Caleb brought up something in a group conversation that Allie had said in their hiking class almost two months ago. Allie was taken aback that he had remembered this small but random detail about her. Soon after this day, she confided in her friends that she had a new crush. She started making small secret signals to get him to notice her over the next few days, such as an Instagram friend request and talking to him in the med-surg review session. Most notably, Allie sat in the library for 5 hours one day waiting to see if Caleb would be there, since it was a place she had seen him a lot before. After two days of attempts to interact more, Allie finally just shot her shot and sent Caleb a Snapchat message, which lead to their first official hangout walking around the school and playing pool. Caleb then walked Allie back to her dorm and asked her on an official first date at Water Street Brewery. With less than a week until summer, the pair tried to see each other as much as possible. A second date walking to Highland House, several walks around campus, and studying in the library. Allie and Caleb moved off campus for the summer, but this did not stop them from getting back together. Allie and Caleb continued to meet up over the summer and shared many fun times, including walking and hiking in Lake Geneva, biking, moped-ing, playing cards, playing pickleball, climbing trees, and eating lots of ice cream and popsicles. That fall, Allie and Caleb moved back onto campus and continued to grow closer during their senior year. Some of their favorite memories include swimming in Lake Michigan, having pediatrics clinical together, and worshiping at First Immanuel. In January of 2026, Allie and Caleb revisited the Mequon Nature Preserve and got engaged! They cannot wait to celebrate their love with all of you!
