Sarah's younger brother Nathan is someone Richard looks up to... quite literally! They enjoy playing card games together around the holidays. Richard has not given up the quest of one day finding a beer that Nathan will enjoy. We'll see!

Adrienne was the first of the grooms sisters that Sarah met. But ever since they met, Sarah knew Adrienne was an amazing person, with a huge heart and sense of humor to boot. Whether it's bonding over jigsaw puzzles, cats, or the art of napping, Adrienne’s got Sarah’s back every time. And Sarah has hers - even when she is feeling murderous.
Travis

Travis is married to Richard's sister Adrienne. Richard met Travis at ASST in 2018, where they worked together for two years fabricating countertops, desks and more. Now they work together keeping Adrienne happy and non-murderous.
Julia

Julia and Sarah first crossed paths in 2018 while working together at Weaver Eye Associates in York, PA. Though they didn’t become close right away, they reconnected in 2021—Julia was living in South Carolina, and Sarah in Pittsburgh. It felt as if no time had passed, and over time, they’ve bonded over their shared love of puzzles, ice cream, and personal growth. Ever since, they’ve kept their connection alive by striving to have weekly 'Girl Chats' on the phone.
Nate

Richard and Nate go back to the dial-up days, competing in highschool over who was the better poet. Their shared passions and collaborations span music, philosophy, chemistry, pharmacology, craft beer and more.
Soobin

Sarah met Soobin (and her husband Sungil) through Richard’s work at the Pitt Lab, and I’m so grateful for that connection. She’s sweet, funny, and incredibly caring. I’ll always cherish our game nights and all the fun times we had when we both lived in Pittsburgh. Now, with her in Chicago, we have two great reasons to visit!
Sungil
Best Man
No supercomputer cluster has enough GPUs to simulate the bonding forces between Richard and Sungil. Their favorite past-times include driving the ladies crazy with very important discussions of quantum chemistry, the heat death of the universe, scotch whiskies or Badminton.

Sarah also met Cait (and her fiancé Denny) through Richard’s work at the Pitt Lab, and I’m so grateful for that connection. She’s super fun, caring and always ready to give anyone in need a pep talk. Sarah will always cherish when the 6 of us (including Sungil and Soobin) lived in Pittsburgh and had our infamous game nights! But now, there are 2 wonderful reasons to visit Boston!
Denny

Without Denny, Richard would probably think machine learning is just another optimization problem. They met in the Chemical Engineering department at University of Pittsburgh. They had many great times in the City of Steel before Denny came out of the closet as the next software genius of our time, and moved to Boston to research artificial intelligence. They still maintain a long distance friendship (partly because Richard lives in fear of the military drones built by Denny).
