Our Love Story

A New Year's Eve to remember...

Fate has a funny way of picking and choosing the events in life that lead two complete strangers paths to collide. As most of you know, this story begins with a friendship with Ashley Sacks, the lovely sister of Ricky Sacks, and my dear friend and college roommate at Ursinus College. Ricky would periodically come visit his sister at school and I never seemed to mind. He was shy and timid and I am the complete opposite, loud and bubbly. I would talk endlessly and he would just smile and listen. Our friendship grew and by this point it appeared that Ricky was more than just Ashley Sacks's brother. Then, as fate tends to do, the inevitable happened and Ricky went away to college. We saw less and less of each other but always remained friends, despite our friendship having its ups and downs. Fast forward four years later, when he finally came home from school and it was New Year's Eve. At the stroke of midnight on December 31st 2010, he kissed her under the stars on a cold snowy night.

The Proposal

A present under the Christmas tree

Ricky has always tried to go out of his way to make special memories for me over the years. Whether its just simply dancing in the kitchen to our favorite songs or showing up at my house with flowers for no reason at all. He is charming and always chivalrous. After many years of dating (seven to be exact) he decided to make the most romantic gesture of all, a proposal. He planned a surprise trip to NYC on December 4th 2016, after remembering that I've never been to New York at Christmas time. Every detail was accounted for and kept a secret till the very last minute. We arrived at Rockefeller Center and took in all the sights. It was a chilly winter day and we were all bundled up. We ate lunch next to the ice skating rink and got hot chocolate while we did all the touristy things. Then he took me to see The Rockettes for the very first time. I felt like I was in a movie, everything felt magical; It was the perfect day. Before it was time to go, he told me that we couldn't leave New York until I saw the Christmas Tree lit up at night. He took my camera and said he wanted to take a picture of me with the tree in the background. Before I knew it he was down on one knee, in front of hundreds of strangers of New York, asking me to be his one and only, forever and always.

For all the days along the way
