In April 2020, just weeks after the world shut down due to a global pandemic, a young couple were about to meet. In typical Florida fashion, all covid restrictions were thrown to the wayside, when Betsy received an invitation to spend the day swimming at a mutual friend’s house. Betsy and Richard were instantly drawn to each other, with their competitive spirits and relentless efforts to make the other laugh. They bonded over every activity possible during lock-down: spikeball, magic tricks, tennis, cooking tacos, and to Richard’s pleasant surprise, golfing. The two quickly became the closest of friends. Although both were smitten, their future was uncertain. That summer, Betsy went home to Ohio to spend two months with her parents, while she enjoyed the glorious, work-from-home flexibility the pandemic allowed us. Meanwhile, Richard was scheduled to pack up his life and move to DC for work. The two kept in contact throughout their months apart, pulling at one another’s heart strings and curling over with laughter during phone conversations. During this distance, they both realized what they had could be the making of the real thing. August 2020, Betsy returned to Florida and went directly to Richard. The rest is history. The bride and groom to-be have had quite the adventurous love story. They’ve sailed around the British Virgin Islands, tackled waves in the Bahamas, tee’d off on world-famous courses, Skied the mountains of Colorado, tasted the wines of Napa Valley, hiked the hilly streets of San Francisco, danced nights away in New Orleans, and flown solo together from city to city. You can catch these two enjoying every activity under the sun, but they are still at their happiest cooking tacos together in their kitchen.
