Corrin and Rich met at City College of New York (CCNY) through InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (IVCF). During his freshmen year, Rich was interested in volunteering as a student leader. He contacted Corrin, a sophomore student leader, and the two scheduled a meeting to discuss what next steps Rich should take. That first meeting went differently than Rich planned. Corrin did not invite him to a coffee shop, as he anticipated. Instead, she asked him personal questions during rush hour on the 1 train. Rich could have been more impressed with Corrin. Corrin kept pushing, blissfully unaware of what Rich thought of her. What better way to start an organic conversation than in the present moment? As luck would have it, they entered a shared group of friends, and this "unlikely pair" stayed in each other's lives. On the exterior, they couldn't be more different. He was disciplined, detailed-oriented, and introverted. She was spontaneous, a charismatic feeler, and laughed loudly. Their love of trying new food spots and appreciation for deep conversations drew them together. Corrin enjoyed asking Rich to study with her because she was inspired by his focus. Rich found his warm and enthusiastic foodie buddy ready to adventure at a moment's notice. They were amused by each other's differences. Over time, that amusement changed into acceptance and then deep appreciation. The air felt clearer when they were next to each other. In this place of mutual respect and shared values, they quickly inspired each other towards faith, personal growth, and career. Now we skip forward to the last season of this very long slow burn. On a wintry night in January 2020, Corrin travels up from D.C. to New York for a weekend visit. The first person she texts to hang out with is Rich. They plan to meet at a coffee shop like they've done thousands of times before, only *this time* something feels different. Maybe it's the snow outside, maybe it's how cozy the cafe's interior is, or maybe it's just that each individual is ready for a relationship. Corrin's heart races a little faster as she counts down the minutes Rich is meant to arrive. When they finally see each other, both break into huge smiles, and suddenly, the world disappears. Rich went home that night convinced Corrin was "the one" and set her in his sights forever. The rest is history. "Love is patient, love is kind.
