If nothing else, our story is anything but boring or “traditional.” And ultimately, not a day goes by that both of us don’t recognize the grief and heartache we and our kids survived to get us all to where we are now. It’s an impossible bittersweetness to our story. Rich and Amber officially met through, where else, a dating app. Prior to this first official connection, our lives had been strangely and coincidentally connected and yet we never directly crossed paths (maybe at one Fourth of July neighborhood party?). So when Amber saw Rich had swiped right on her Bumble profile, needless to say she was quite surprised. After the first few conversations, there was no denying the genuine, deep connection between us. And everyone who knows us knows that from there, things moved fast. Like moving in together 4 months later fast. We laugh to this day about how we really skipped the “small talk” portion of getting to know each other and dove right into sharing all the hard stuff. There was in instant comfort and emotional safety in our relationship. Dating following life-changing trauma and blending a family together in the process has been no easy feat. But we are so excited to make this thing official!
