Although we grew up in the same small town, our paths never really crossed—no classes together, no shared activities. Nick says he always thought Gabby was cute, while Gabby mostly remembers Nick for his… unforgettable championship sideburns during the high school football finals at US Bank Stadium (she thought it was a permanent look—thankfully, it was just a final game thing). Years later, in December 2021, fate (and Hinge) brought us back together. We quickly reconnected and went on a string of dates. It was on that third date, while picking out a birthday cake at Cub Foods for a friend’s birthday party, that we realized how easy and fun life felt together—even doing the ordinary things. Nick asked Gabby to be his girlfriend on March 6, 2022. Since then, we’ve moved in together, bought our first home, got engaged, and adopted two playful kittens. The engagement happened in Grand Marais in October 2024. The funniest part of that story is that we did LOTS of hiking on the Lutsen Mountain, which Gabby was only willing to do because she had a hunch that the hike may end with a sparkly ring and fiancée. But after climbing a 90 degree hill, still no proposal. The next morning, after Gabby figured maybe this was just a spontaneous trip and her legs were numb for no good reason, Nick popped the question in the hotel room before leaving to head home. It’s still up for debate if this was to keep her on her toes or if somebody was a little nervous. Our love story is our favorite story. We are so lucky to have been blessed to find one another, and we can’t wait to start this next chapter surrounded by the people we love most.
