Father cupid did his thing, and now we're getting hitched!

Ricardo: So, this isn’t your typical “love story.” You know, we saw each other at the grocery store, and it was love at first sight and I knew she was the one for me, blah blah blah, the cliche stuff. Nope, we met because my dad was greatly concerned that his one and only son was still single at the age of 34 (LOL). Melissa: In September 2022, his dad came by my house with a cryptic request – he wanted my number to give to someone he highly recommended. Even though I eventually gave him on paper, I forgot all about the scenario until December 18,2022, when I received a WhatsApp message from a foreign number. It was Ricardo, introducing himself and how he got my contact. Ricardo: Three to four months passed with no movement from my end. I eventually gave in and messaged Melissa because my dad kept asking if I did. So, I sent the first text, introducing myself. We exchanged a few messages, but I was busy at the moment, so we didn’t talk again for another month when I got a broadcast text from Melissa. Melissa: After reconnecting in January, we spoke every day after that. FaceTime dates and intentional link up times helped start our spark. But it was also important for me that we build a friendship first, as we also aimed for something long-term. Together: We dove deep into some serious thought-provoking questions, on ideas of the future. By March, homeboy took an airbus to come see me. Three days after my birthday on March 7, 2023: Melissa-Ann Campbell was off the market! And our slogan became, “No matter what, no matter where.” We found out quickly that long distance relationship is hard and though the time apart was difficult to accept at times, it became moderately bearable overtime. 2024 reminded us that we were writing our own love story. Then came December 19, 2024 – when something special happened. Who would have thought that a modern day “arranged marriage,” set up by our two dads, would lead to Ricardo asking me to be his forever - and of course, I said YAS! This is just the beginning of our forever LOVE STORY. We are looking forward to a lifetime together, bundled with many more trips and fun times - with God at the center of it all.
