Ricardo ("Ricky") and Kaylee met through Kaylee's college roommate, Kelsie. As Kaylee and Kelsie grew close during their junior year, naturally Kaylee started to spend more time with Kelsie’s friends, and one of those friends was Ricky! Having always heard great things about him, Kaylee asked Kelsie to pass along her number after a group night out. Not long after the number exchange, Ricky and Kaylee went on their first official date—a picnic at Zilker Park with Thundercloud sandwiches. As they got to know each other, they realized there had been an invisible string tying them together all along. Freshman year, out of all the places to live at The University of Texas, they lived in the SAME dorm on the SAME floor. Sophomore year, out of all the apartment complexes near campus, they lived in the same one. Junior year—somehow—it happened once more. Ricky and Kaylee officially started dating senior year, which was ironically the only year they didn't live in the same building. But by then, the invisible string had done its job. After graduating in 2021, Ricky headed to San Diego to begin his career in engineering, while Kaylee stayed in Austin to complete her master’s degree in accounting. Two years of long distance followed—filled with frequent flights, new adventures, and a love that only grew stronger. In August 2023, Ricky moved back to Austin, and in March 2025, he pulled off the ultimate surprise by proposing to Kaylee on the very beach they first visited together when he moved to San Diego. This November, they’ll say “I do” and step into the next chapter of their love story, thankful for every person and path that led them to each other.
