What should I wear to the wedding?

Answer

Please dress however you feel most comfortable! The preferred colors to wear are dark oranges, dark greens, browns and burgundies. Make sure you are wearing shoes in which you will be able to navigate uneven and potentially wet terrain. This wedding will be entirely outdoor, so ensure clothing and shoes are weather appropriate. It is possible that rain could occur, please plan accordingly.

Can we bring our children?

Answer

Yes! Children are welcome to attend the ceremony. We ask that children leave by 6:00pm for the later part of the reception.

What are accommodations for lodging?

Answer

This will be a camping event. If you plan to camp, please let us know. We have reserved camping for everyone on-site, all you need to bring is your tent and any other camping essentials! If you do not wish to camp, there are several hotels in Charleston that are within 5 miles of the venue.

What will the weather be like?

Answer

It will likely be chilly, and there is potential for rain. Ensure that you dress accordingly and bring an umbrella, the wedding will happen rain or shine!

Is there parking available on site?

Answer

Yes! There is plenty of parking on site. Guests will park at the visitors center, than will walk to the campsite (about a quarter mile) on a path. Please be prepared to walk on potentially unstable terrain to reach the venue.

Will there be alcohol?

Answer

Alcohol is not permitted in state parks. Non-alcoholic beverages will be served.

Am I allowed to bring a plus one?

Answer

Due to the intimacy of this event, we ask that you do not bring a plus one. Those in your family that are invited to the wedding will be explicitly indicated on your invitation.

Do you have a wedding registry/should we bring a gift?

Answer

As we have been together for many years and own our own home, we would prefer monetary donations for home improvements and our honeymoon fund. We do have a registry linked as well with a few needed items for our new home.

Can we take photos at your wedding ceremony?

Answer

We will have a professional photographer taking photos at the ceremony, we ask that you do not take photos and keep your phone on silent so you can be there in the moment with us on our special day.

Where In Kanawha State Forest Is The Wedding Located?

Answer

The wedding will happen at the Shrewsbury Hollow campground, which is also where all campsites are reserved. To get to this location, you should head to the gift shop/nature center (200 Shrewsbury Hollow, Charleston, WV, 25314) and park there in the very large parking lot. Once there, walk north toward the trails. You will walk past a large empty pool on your right, and then will pass bathrooms on your right, and you will come up at the venue in about 200 feet. There will be signs to assist you in finding you way to us!

What Food/Drinks Will Be Served?

Answer

We will be serving snack type foods, and drinks. This will not be a full meal, but rather small plates. Please eat before coming as there will not be a full meal served.
