This museum focuses on the heritage, history, and notable individuals who shaped West Virginia over its history. Located conveniently on the Capitol grounds directly next to the ceremony venue, and a great option for guests who would prefer to stay close to the action.
Kanawha State Forest is located just seven miles from downtown Charleston, and has over 60 miles of hiking and biking trails for outdoors enthusiasts. They additionally offer cabin bookings for those interested in staying in a more rural locale during their visit.
The New River Gorge National Park is a little under an hour's drive south of the Charleston metropolitan area. If you have a little extra time on your hands and want to see some of the most beautiful natural landscapes West Virginia has to offer, we highly recommend a trip to the Gorge. The nearby town of Fayetteville is also full of interesting restaurants, local craft businesses, and antique stores.
