You will need to bring a valid passport to travel to Mexico. If you do not hold a U.S. or Canadian passport, make sure you check to see if you need a tourist Visa to enter Mexico. We also highly recommend exchanging some cash for Mexican pesos before you leave the airport. While many establishments and restaurants will take debit or credit cards, it is helpful to have some pesos on hand for taxi's, tips, meals, etc. Although most major cell service carriers have international coverage, it is also recommended to call your carrier ahead of time to make sure you will have service in Zihua. We also always call our banks and credit card companies ahead of time to notify them of upcoming travel.
Zihuatanejo is a laid-back fishing town. In general, Zihua is pretty safe. As always, no matter where you travel to, it is important to always be vigilant - be aware of your surroundings, don't go out alone late at night, and avoid flashing too many valuable items.
We will be in Zihuatanejo from Wednesday, March 19th through Monday, March 24th. You are welcome to travel for the same days or whatever works best for your individual schedules. After all, this is a vacation for you too!
Taxi is the main method of getting around. If you plan on staying at one of our recommended accommodations in the Playa la Ropa area, any taxi will be able to take you to Casa Angelina and will cost around $100-$150 pesos each way ($5-$8 US dollars). You will need pesos in cash for taxis. Parking at Casa Angelina is quite limited, so we do not recommend renting a car.
The wedding venue, Casa Angelina, is a villa that we rented that has only 7 rooms. This is where Ria and Ilitch will be staying for the trip in addition to their closest family members. While we don't really have a "recommended" hotel, we have compiled a handful of hotel options as well as short-term home rentals (Airbnb/Vrbo) that you can explore. We tried to be mindful to choose a variety of options so that guests can choose what is best for their individual preferences and budgets. All of our accommodations are relatively close to our wedding venue and easily accessible by taxi. Please refer to the Travel & Accommodations section of our website for more info.
While we love your little ones and of course you are welcome to bring them with you on your trip, we have decided that our wedding will be an adults-only event. Our venue is also not able to accommodate guests under age 16. Thank you for respecting this decision!
For our guests who received a plus one, a "guest" will be reflected on your paper invitation or when you go to RSVP on our wedding website. Thank you for respecting our decision!
Please plan to arrive at 4:30 pm. The ceremony will start promptly at 5:00 pm.
Our dress code is "Tropical Cocktail". This is dressier than casual but not as dressy as formal. Our venue and reception are outside but not on the beach. Feel free to dress up a bit! Mexico can get very hot so we recommend wearing light weight, linen, or flowy fabrics that you can be comfortable in. A midi or maxi dresses or an elegant jumpsuit or romper are great options. For the guys, a breathable sport coat or blazer is recommended. Feel free to have fun with bright colors or unique prints!
