89 Eparchiaki Odos Monolinthou-Frourio Monolinthou, Monolithos, 851 08, Greece

Monolithos Castle is a 15th-century fortress built on a 100-metre cliff in Rhodes. One of the oldest sites in Greece, it towers above the sea on the west coast of the island. As it has never been sieged, the structure remains relatively well-preserved. The hike to the top isn’t exactly leisurely, even though there’s a purpose-built walking trail to take you there, so be sure to bring some water and snacks to keep you going. However, your efforts will be rewarded with panoramas of the rugged coastline and the Aegean Sea. You can also visit the 2 white-plastered chapel ruins, which give you a nice view of the surrounding landscapes.

The Valley of 'Seven Springs'

The Valley of 'Seven Springs'

Archangelos, 851 02, Rhodes, Greece, Greece

“Seven Springs” is a Natura 2000 protected zone located 30 km from Rhodes’ city centre, near the village of Archangelos. It’s an area of unique natural beauty, where the locals go in the hot summer months to seek shade under leafy plane trees. The valley derives its name from the 7 natural springs whose pouring cascade falls into a river, which in turn flows into a lake surrounded by a gushing waterfall. Follow one of the area’s many hiking paths to admire peacocks before you dive into the cool waters of the lake. Finish your day off at the café, which overlooks the stream, and take in this unparalleled natural backdrop.
