As with all great love stories, ours began at a bar... Rhiannon had other plans that evening, but when her coworker Shannon invited her out to Dark Horse Tavern for drinks and karaoke, she said “why not!”, only intending to stay for a drink or two before she would leave for her original plans. Matt had other plans for the evening as well, but wound up spending the day with Jason and Mary Anne, who had also been invited out to Dark Horse by Shannon, and decided to tag along. As soon as Matt walked into the bar, Rhiannon was immediatly interested. Rhiannon whispered to Shannon, “I need you to help me find out by the end of the night if the tall gentleman in the cardigan next to me is single.” Once the karaoke started it was impossible to communicate, but Rhiannon still tried to talk to Matt. Apparently it wasnt until the group had left Dark Horse for another bar that Matt even realized Rhiannon wasn’t a complete stranger and was in fact a part of the group he was with. After more drinks and talking at another, quieter bar, Matt had the idea that the group should get waffles down the street at the Majestic Diner. But when it came time to walk over, the rest of the group disappeared, leaving Rhiannon and Matt alone to enjoy breakfast food and wonderful conversation until 4 in the morning, and the rest is history...

In a cabin in Helen, GA where they had gone on their first mini vacation one year prior, Matt asked Rhiannon if she wanted to marry him. Rhiannon, who was trying to plan where they would eat for dinner that night, said “yes, you know I want to, we’ve talked about this.” Nervously, Matt pulled out a ring box and asked, “no, really, will you marry me?” to which Rhiannon said yes and both began crying, happy to start their lives together.
