our humans are getting married (again)!

Casey and Rhi met in September 2013, when Casey was a brand new pledge at his fraternity and they both joined their Humorology cast. While Casey likes to say they started dating then, they became close friends immediately and remained that way for two years. However, in those two years, there were always feelings beyond friendship involved - Casey's slightly more obvious than hers. After Rhi returned from studying abroad from Spain and spent a summer in D.C., and Casey was driving around rural Wisconsin/Minnesota for an internship, they began talking on the phone every day for HOURS. After returning to school in the fall, it was officially game over. Rhi could no longer hold her feelings back and finally confessed to feeling the same way. They've been together ever since. Casey still maintains that they started dating his freshman year of college ;)

On the rainy afternoon of March 9, 2019, Casey took Rhi to one of their favorite places: Lincoln Park Zoo. Zoos were their thing after a disastrous first Valentine's Day where they went to a zoo in an actual blizzard, following by a romantic dinner they could not really afford. At the zoo, their best friends Bridget and Shaun joined them for a typical double date, and they walked around the zoo. At the end of their outing, Casey took Rhi to her favorite exhibit, the fennec fox, and got down on one knee. Immediately afterwards, Bridget whisked them to an impromptu photo shoot and they all joined family for a champagne celebration. At night, there was a surprise engagement party with all their friends and family.

While COVID-19 moved the day of their original wedding celebration, Casey and Rhi were still married on June 6, 2020, in an intimate gathering with family and friends. They are excited to be surrounded by everyone during the October vow renewal and reception, celebrating their over-seven-year-long adventure. Their fur children, Waffles and Maple, will be present in spirit at the October celebration.
