How We Met

July 2019

"We met the summer after my freshman year of college when we worked together as camp counselors! I worked the specialty program at the camp, and John worked the sports section. Those two groups were usually paired together for activities, so we started talking at camp and then planned a night out...and a second night out...and a third night out haha!!" - Rhia "We met at summer camp and Rhia mentioned her plans to watch The Bachelor after work. I told her that I was a fan of watching The Bachelor so that she would want to hang out with me. Little did she know, I have never watched The Bachelor once in my life..." - John

How We Started Dating

August 2019

"I had just gotten back home after a redeye flight from visiting my college roommate (now maid of honor, shoutout Caylee) in California, and my parents both wanted to pick me up from the airport and go straight to the cabin for the weekend. I told them I was too tired from the flight and wanted to stay home while they went without me. I wasn't really tired, I just had plans to see John. That's the weekend we decided to start dating. Sorry mom & dad" - Rhia "It started by me and Rhia texting while she was in California. When she got back, we spent a few days together and we had a talk one night while she was dog sitting about how we would be able to make long distance work. After that talk, we drove to Wawa for snacks and I asked her out over a shared bag of Haribo gummy bears." - John

The Proposal

March 2024

"I'll always remember me, Pap, John, and Amelia riding together to the winery where the proposal happened. We were singing at the top of our lungs!" - Rhia "I almost had to change the proposal plans completely because my mom was driving the family up to Rhia's parent's house and they were over an hour and a half behind. But thankfully the plans worked out and the men even had enough time before dinner to take a nap." - John
