Oh, boy. They met at a household gathering. Two of their friends were dating each other and several of them gathered to get to know each other and hang out. And, well... the rest was history.

One day, after work, Rhett came home with yellow roses for Monique. She thought it was very sweet and thoughtful, posted a photo of them on Facebook, ate dinner and then went on their way to a game that Rhett had to officiate. Before they left, Rhett kept telling Monique to smell the roses and really look at them. She kept reassuring him that she loved the flowers and that they smelled really good. Turns out he was trying to get her to see a diamond ring in the roses petals and propose to her at dinner, but she was too clueless to see it. Therefore, he gave up. When they got home that night, he told her to smell the flowers, again. She kept thinking that he was just extremely proud of the ones he picked out— which was odd to her because he buys her flowers fairly often. Still clueless, he then told her to really look inside of the roses. Typical Monique started getting annoyed because she didn’t know what he meant and it was almost midnight. Rhett then told her to take out her flashlight and look at the roses. Monique responded, “are there bugs?!” Finally, Monique saw something shiny. She pulled out a diamond ring and with her back to Rhett, she said “aww did you buy me a ring?” She just thought that he was as buying her something pretty and doing a sweet gesture. Then Monique turned around and Rhett said, “It’s an engagement ring. Will you marry me?” ♥️
