It was October 2016 when Amanda applied for a position at a daycare in Kalamazoo, MI. Matt was the one to conduct her interview. Accepting the position, Amanda began working in the same classroom as Matt. After getting to know one another better at work, they realized they were in the same degree program at Western Michigan University and taking many of the same courses. Already having developed a friendship through work, they began sitting together and studying for their classes together as well. Between all the time they spent together at work and school, by February 2017 they began dating!

In February 2023, Matt and Amanda had visited Niagara Falls, NY for their 6 year anniversary. It was during this visit that Matt knew this was where he would want to propose. Then in August 2023, Matt suggested they take a last-minute trip to - you guessed it, Niagara Falls. Once they arrived at Niagara Falls, they explored the park for awhile. Then, Matt suggested they find a spot for a picture. Once they found a spot with few people around, Matt got down on one knee and popped the question. Then, to Amanda’s shock, Matt had also arranged for their friends Emily and Travis to be there to celebrate after. It was the most perfect weekend. & now Matt and Amanda can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter in their lives.
