We met in Austin, Texas where we both attended St. Edward's University. We took philosophy together, yet I didn't pay Dan any attention until he ended up being the one who took my order at the local Chick-fil-A. As I placed my order, Dan claimed to know me, but I didn't recognize him from class and was convinced he was mistaking me for someone else! Sure enough, he ended up being the cute guy from Dr. Dilly's class who frequently showed up late with a protein shake in hand. We surprisingly had another class together the following semester, and not too long after, we ended up messaging each other on Facebook and continued making excuses to message each other. Dan would ask me when assignments were due...even though they were clearly listed on the syllabus... We eventually went out on a date, and five amazing years later, here we are, ready and thrilled for the next adventure!
Dan always said he wanted to catch me off guard with a proposal, and well, he was completely successful! As a long distance couple, we were used to flying to each others' hometowns for visits. Last July, he flew to Illinois for a weekend, and one night as we were getting ready for bed, he told me he had planned a small activity for us to do. Being a couple that likes to play games together, whether that be board games or solving fake case files, he surprised me with a puzzle, and as we completed it, the puzzle spelled out THE question. He got down on one knee and I said yes to the easiest question ever asked of me.
